The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has fixed September 22, 2025, as the official resumption date for all public and private schools in the state for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a directive issued on August 10, 2025, and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Aishatu Nuhu Yarwa, the decision aligns with the Federal Ministry of Education’s approved school calendar.
The ministry cautioned that some private schools had reportedly resumed activities ahead of the official date. It stressed that any school that reopens before September 22 will be ordered to shut down immediately.
“Failure to comply with this directive will result in appropriate sanctions,” the circular warned.
Hajiya Yarwa urged all school operators to adhere strictly to the approved calendar, noting that the move was designed to ensure uniformity in academic activities and compliance with national standards.
The ministry added that its monitoring teams would enforce the directive across the state.
