In a statement signed by the Head of the Communication Unit, Mrs. Adejoke R. Alaga-Ibraheem, and released on Wednesday, the university expressed concern over what it described as “various insinuations and claims” circulating via emails and social media following the screening, which held from September 1 to 4, 2025.
“The University categorically affirms that the notification of examination malpractice earlier issued in respect of the screening exercise was not the result of a system or technical glitch,” the statement said.
The institution maintained that all flagged cases arose from “clear violations of established examination guidelines” and were detected using multiple monitoring mechanisms, including secure video surveillance, deployed to uphold the integrity of the screening process.
While affirming its adherence to data protection laws, UNILAG stated that uncensored video footage of the exercise would not be released to the public. However, it said anonymised screenshots may be published to illustrate the nature of violations under review.
The university advised candidates to disregard information from unauthorised sources and rely solely on official communications issued through its verified platforms.
“UNILAG reiterates its unwavering commitment to integrity, fairness, and transparency in its admissions process, and will not be distracted by conjectures or misinformation,” the statement added.
