Prospective students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) have received encouraging news as the management of the institution has officially announced the extension of the Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening registration deadline for the 2025/2026 academic session. The new closing date has been shifted to Wednesday, 24th September 2025, offering applicants more time to complete their registration.
Why the Extension is Significant
The extension comes as a relief to many prospective candidates. Every year, thousands of students compete for admission into UNIOSUN, one of Nigeria’s most respected state-owned universities. Delays in examination results, financial challenges, or technical difficulties often prevent qualified candidates from meeting the original deadline. By extending the registration window, UNIOSUN reinforces its commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and equal opportunity for all applicants.
Categories of Candidates to Benefit
The extension directly benefits three major categories of applicants:
- First-Choice UTME Candidates – Those who chose UNIOSUN as their first choice during the 2025 UTME but are yet to complete the Post-UTME registration.
- Direct Entry (DE) Candidates – Applicants with advanced qualifications such as A-Levels, NCE, OND, or equivalent who seek 200-level admission into various programmes.
- Change of Institution Candidates – Students who recently changed their first choice to UNIOSUN via the JAMB portal and were awaiting confirmation of the change before beginning their registration.
Eligibility Guidelines
The university has restated the minimum requirements for participation in the screening exercise.
- UTME Candidates must have scored 160 and above in the 2025 JAMB examination. Highly competitive programmes may, however, require higher scores.
- O’Level Requirements demand a minimum of five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- Age Requirement states that candidates must be at least 16 years old by the time of admission.
Applicants are strongly advised to review departmental cut-off marks and course-specific requirements before submission.
Application Process Step-by-Step
To avoid errors or disqualification, applicants are expected to follow these steps carefully:
- Visit the Portal – Navigate to the official screening portal at https://admissions.uniosun.edu.ng/.
- Create a Profile – Register using a valid email address and phone number. A verification link will be sent to the email provided.
- Complete the Form – Input personal details, UTME/DE information, and upload a passport photograph. Double-check information before submission.
- Pay the Processing Fee – Make an online payment of about N2,000 (excluding transaction charges) through the designated gateway. Print the receipt after payment.
- Upload Credentials – Upload O’Level results and other necessary documents. Candidates awaiting results may use “AR” (Awaiting Result) but must later update both the UNIOSUN and JAMB portals.
- Print Confirmation Slip – After successful submission, print the slip containing screening details and keep it safe for future admission processes.
UNIOSUN management assured applicants that the extension is not an avenue to delay the admission process but a way of ensuring transparency and fairness. The university reiterated that only candidates who complete the process within the new timeline will be considered for admission.
With the new deadline set for September 24, 2025, prospective students are encouraged to seize the opportunity and finalise their registration without delay. UNIOSUN continues to position itself as a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and community service, and this extension reflects its dedication to making education accessible, inclusive, and student-friendly.
