The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, hosted a delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the resource verification of its proposed **College of Medical Sciences and Health Technology.
The team, led by Prof. Idris Muhammad of Bayero University, Kano, was received at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus, by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, alongside members of the university management.
Explaining the purpose of the visit, Prof. Muhammad said the exercise was designed to evaluate the facilities and manpower available to determine FUT Minna’s readiness to establish the new college. The verification covered proposed programmes in Medicine (MBBS), Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
He commended the university’s efforts and commitment to the project while noting that the NUC team’s role was to assess the resources on ground and provide guidance on areas requiring further improvement.
In his remarks, Prof. Kuta described the initiative as a timely response to Nigeria’s growing demand for medical professionals. He stressed that FUT Minna has made substantial investments in infrastructure and human resources to actualize the project, adding that the institution is determined to contribute meaningfully to the country’s healthcare system.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the NUC delegation for its dedication to the national assignment and expressed confidence that the proposed college would strengthen FUT Minna’s role in advancing education and research in the health sciences.
