President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate construction of two 300-capacity hostels for the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and a new access road linking the Body of Benchers Secretariat in Jabi District with Nile University.
The directive was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the projects will be undertaken under emergency consideration. One hostel will accommodate 300 female students, while the other will provide space for 300 male students, addressing long-standing concerns about inadequate accommodation at the law school.
In addition, the road project is expected to ease traffic congestion in the Jabi axis, particularly on the route leading to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is expected to oversee the execution of the projects.
Observers say the development marks another effort by the federal government to improve infrastructure supporting Nigeria’s legal education and judicial institutions.
