Nigeria has entered the global record books after the “Let There Be Teachers” Conference, held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, was officially certified by Guinness World Records as the largest gathering of teachers in history.
Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement and issued a virtual certificate to participants, validating that the turnout surpassed all previous teacher gatherings worldwide.
The convener of the conference, Oluwaseyi Anifowose, expressed excitement on social media, declaring: “The Largest Gathering of Teachers in the World! My name is Oluwaseyi Anifowose and I am a proud teacher! Let There Be Teachers.”

One of the organisers, Sola Sogbera, described the recognition as historic, noting that it affirms Nigeria’s commitment to teacher development and positions the country as a leader in global education advocacy.
The event, drew thousands of teachers, education stakeholders, and policymakers who exchanged ideas on professional growth and the future of learning in Nigeria.
The choice of TBS, a landmark venue that has hosted defining national events since independence underscored the symbolic importance of celebrating teachers as nation-builders.
Founded in 1955, Guinness World Records is the global authority on extraordinary achievements. With this recognition, Nigeria joins a select group of nations that have set world records through education-focused mobilisations.
For many teachers, the achievement goes beyond numbers. It stands as a tribute to their sacrifices, resilience, and vital role in shaping generations, sending a strong message that teachers remain the backbone of both national progress and global development.
