The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has dismissed allegations of irregularities, favoritism, and financial inducements in the posting of principals and vice principals across public secondary schools in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, and signed by its chairman, Apostle ’Biodun Sanyaolu, TESCOM described the circulating claims as “unfounded, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to undermine the integrity of the commission.”
The commission emphasized that postings are carried out strictly on merit, guided by verifiable service records, available vacancies, and established civil service rules. It added that a comprehensive database of schools, principals, vice principals, and teaching staff has continued to guide decisions on promotions, postings, and redeployments.
“The Ogun State Government has continued to prioritise transparency, accountability, and excellence in the education sector,” the statement read. “This commitment was evident in the recently concluded induction of principals and vice principals, where due process and fairness were upheld without compromise.”
TESCOM also clarified that all teachers and principals in the state are beneficiaries of the Contributory Pensions Scheme, dismissing claims that retirees risk “going home with nothing” after years of service as false and misleading.
Reaffirming its zero tolerance for corruption, TESCOM noted that it operates an open-door policy to investigate genuine complaints and discipline any officer found guilty of misconduct. It also pointed to the whistleblower scheme launched under the current chairman, which provides a confidential platform for reporting irregularities via a dedicated hotline.
“We urge caution in making sweeping statements that may tarnish the reputation of TESCOM as an agency working diligently to improve education delivery in Ogun State,” the commission said.
It pledged to continue ensuring that postings and promotions remain devoid of favoritism, undue influence, or financial inducement, in line with its vision of building an education system rooted in merit, integrity, and service.
