The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has dismissed claims that it withheld results from the recently concluded 2025 Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post UTME).
This clarification followed a pre action petition addressed to the Vice Chancellor by Hon Kene Kennedy of F K Nnadi and Co, alleging that some results were being withheld and demanding their release.
In an official response dated September 23 and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs V Abosede Wickliffe, the university stated that all Post UTME results had been duly released to candidates.
“Please be informed that there is currently no case of withheld 2025 Post UTME results at the University of Lagos. All results have been duly released to candidates, and those disqualified on grounds of examination malpractice have been appropriately notified,” the statement read.
UNILAG explained that a few candidates were disqualified after being found guilty of examination malpractice during the screening process. The university noted that its internal mechanisms were activated to investigate the infractions in line with established standards.
“As you are aware, the examination process revealed a few cases of malpractice which contravene the criteria for provisional admission into the university. This led to the disqualification of certain candidates, potentially including one or more of your clients, as inferred from your letter. These outcomes have been publicly communicated through the university’s Information Bulletin,” it added.
While acknowledging the right of individuals to seek redress, the university reiterated that admission into UNILAG is provisional and subject to compliance with academic and ethical standards.
“The university respects the right of individuals to seek redress for perceived grievances. However, it is important to reiterate that admission is contingent upon compliance with academic integrity and ethical conduct.”
UNILAG reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and merit driven admission process in line with its core academic values.
