The Nigerian Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, has officially released the admission list for the 2025/2026 academic session. The announcement brings relief and excitement to thousands of candidates who participated in the university’s admission screening exercise earlier this year. Successful candidates can now check their status through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Central Admission Processing System (JAMB CAPS).
The provisional list of admitted candidates has been uploaded online and can be accessed via the JAMB e-facility portal. To confirm their admission, candidates are required to log in to their dashboards using their registered email addresses and passwords. Once logged in, applicants should click on “Check Admission Status,” proceed to “Access my CAPS,” and then click on “Admission Status” to know if they have been offered admission.
According to the process outlined by JAMB, candidates who have been admitted will receive a notification displaying their passport photograph along with a congratulatory message confirming their admission offer. On the other hand, those who are yet to secure admission will get the response: “Sorry, No Admission Has Been Given Yet.” This means such candidates should continue to check back regularly, as the list is expected to be released in batches.
NMU authorities also emphasized that admitted students must act promptly by either accepting or rejecting their admission offer. This can be done by sending “ACCEPT” or “REJECT” as an SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the exact phone number linked to their JAMB profile. Importantly, candidates have a four-week window to make this decision, after which their admission may lapse if no action is taken.
For students who may have lost access to their registered phone numbers, the university advised them to visit a JAMB-accredited centre to complete the acceptance or rejection process. Failure to confirm their admission within the stipulated time frame could lead to forfeiture of their admission slots, making it crucial for candidates to act without delay.
Another important step for successful applicants is the printing of their JAMB admission letters. This document will serve as proof of admission and will be required during the clearance and registration exercise at the Nigerian Maritime University. Without this, candidates may encounter difficulties completing their documentation process upon resumption.
The management further clarified that many mobile phone users may face challenges accessing their admission status due to incomplete page display on CAPS. In most cases, mobile users only see a welcome message without the full admission status option. To overcome this, candidates are strongly encouraged to use the desktop mode of their browsers. The Google Chrome browser, with its “Request Desktop Site” feature, was specifically recommended for this purpose.
Parents and guardians have also been urged to guide their wards carefully through the process to avoid mistakes that may hinder their admission confirmation. With thousands of candidates competing for limited slots, NMU management insists that strict adherence to the outlined procedures will ensure a smooth and successful admission confirmation process.
The release of the NMU admission list marks another major milestone in Nigeria’s higher education calendar. For many students, it is the beginning of a new academic journey in one of the country’s specialized universities dedicated to training professionals for the maritime industry. Candidates are therefore encouraged to take this opportunity seriously, as it shapes their academic and professional future.
With the admission list now available, successful candidates are expected to begin preparations for clearance and eventual resumption at the Nigerian Maritime University. The university management assured that further details regarding the resumption date and registration guidelines will be communicated in due course through official channels.
