The Board Member representing North Central on the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi, has commended Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, for its impressive record in managing TETFund-sponsored projects and ensuring accountability in project delivery.
Engineer Adeyemi gave the commendation on Thursday, September 25, 2025, during his official oversight visit to the KWASU campus. He explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess the utilization of TETFund allocations and to ensure that projects sponsored by the Fund were being executed to the highest standards.
According to him, KWASU has consistently stood out among Nigerian universities in terms of project execution and accountability, making it a model institution within the North Central zone and beyond. He stressed that judicious use of funds is critical in advancing education and creating a sustainable learning environment.
“This university has demonstrated commendable transparency and a genuine commitment to growth. From the projects I have seen today, KWASU remains one of the best institutions in terms of utilizing TETFund interventions,” Engineer Adeyemi said during his address.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, received the TETFund delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh. Professor Jimba expressed gratitude to TETFund for its consistent support over the years, noting that the agency’s interventions had contributed significantly to the institution’s infrastructural development.
He reaffirmed KWASU’s commitment to maintaining high standards in accountability, transparency, and effective project management, stating that the university will continue to justify every allocation it receives. “TETFund has been instrumental in transforming our campus and giving our students access to world-class facilities,” he said.
The TETFund delegation was later taken on a comprehensive tour of completed and ongoing projects across the Malete campus. These included lecture theatres, laboratories, staff offices, libraries, and other infrastructural facilities that had been made possible through the agency’s interventions.
During the tour, Engineer Adeyemi interacted with project supervisors and contractors, emphasizing the need for timely completion of ongoing works without compromising quality. He reiterated that TETFund projects are strictly monitored to prevent delays, abandonment, or misuse of resources.
He also called on staff and students of the university to safeguard the facilities provided through TETFund, stressing that they were built to enhance teaching, learning, and research. According to him, proper maintenance culture is vital to sustaining the value of these investments.
In his remarks, Professor Jimba highlighted the transformative role TETFund has played in the growth of KWASU since its establishment. He noted that the university, which began with modest facilities, has now grown into one of the fastest-rising state-owned universities in Nigeria, largely because of federal intervention through TETFund.
Staff and students who spoke with The Nigeria Education News during the visit expressed delight at the recognition given to the university. They described the projects as evidence of good leadership and prudent management of resources, adding that the facilities have positively impacted academic life.
The visit ended with renewed assurances from both parties: TETFund pledged continuous support to the institution, while KWASU leadership promised to maintain its standard of transparency and accountability in all future interventions.
