A civic accountability group, MonITNG, has raised concerns over the quality and delivery of a ₦222 million classroom construction project at Ojah Comprehensive High School in Akoko LGA, Edo State.
The project, with code ZIP20240448, was awarded under the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Federal Ministry of Education, and executed by Sam Sedi Nig. LTD. According to MonITNG, while the classrooms were completed, they were poorly constructed, lacking landscaping, drainage, and standard finishing features expected in a project of such cost.
The group noted that the contractor, Sam Sedi Nig. LTD, has a history of handling controversial projects facilitated by Senator Adams Oshiomhole. These include the abandoned ERGP20245252 road project between Warake and Ivbiaro in Owan East LGA, valued at ₦200 million, and a disputed agricultural empowerment programme in Etsako communities.
MonITNG said the recurring involvement of the same contractor in multiple projects, despite incomplete or substandard delivery, suggests weak oversight, possible contract inflation, and manipulation of procurement processes.
The group called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the contract award process, financial transactions, and the roles of both the contractor and political facilitators.
“Nigerians deserve more than mere completion certificates; they deserve projects that are durable, functional, and reflective of the funds spent,” the report stressed.
