Mountain Top University has dissociated itself from ProConnect Educational Ventures Limited, warning prospective students against making admission-related payments to the company.

In a public notice, the university said ProConnect has no partnership, affiliation, agency, representation or other formal relationship with the institution and has not been authorised to recruit candidates or communicate admission offers on its behalf.

The university’s warning followed reports that ProConnect had been collecting ₦18,500 from prospective students as acceptance fees, including through WhatsApp groups.

Mountain Top University described the reported collections as unauthorised, stressing that the transactions had no connection with the institution.

It advised prospective students, parents and guardians not to make payments to ProConnect or any channel associated with the company in relation to admission into the university.

“All admission information and payments should be obtained and made strictly through MTU’s official communication channels and designated payment platforms,” the university said.

The institution added that it was taking appropriate steps to address the matter and would consider administrative and legal action where necessary.

Mountain Top University also warned that it would not accept responsibility for payments or transactions made through unauthorised channels.
