The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has announced plans to integrate fire safety and rescue education into the national school curriculum as part of efforts to raise a new generation of safety-conscious Nigerians.
The Controller General of the Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, disclosed this during a working visit to the Federal Fire Service Commands in Kubwa and Wuse, Abuja, on Thursday.
Adeyemi said the initiative is aimed at instilling life-saving knowledge in young Nigerians, stressing that preventive education remains critical to reducing fire-related emergencies nationwide.
“Firemen remain at the heart of our mandate of saving lives and property, and their welfare remains my topmost priority,” the CG stated.
He also announced that comprehensive insurance coverage will be provided for all officers, alongside awards and recognitions to encourage excellence and outstanding performance.
The Controller General further assured that measures were being taken to provide a more conducive working environment, while loans would be made available to officers to cushion economic pressures.
On discipline, Adeyemi warned officers against job racketeering and misconduct, vowing that anyone found guilty would face strict disciplinary action.
The visit afforded him the opportunity to interact directly with personnel, inspect facilities, and identify operational gaps for improvement.
