The Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing clear direction and effective regulation to ensure excellent outcomes in schools across the state.
Aderiye made this known in a statement released in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, as she announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state would resume for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, January 5.
The commissioner explained that schools had been on break since December following the successful completion of the first term of the 2025/2026 academic session, to allow pupils, students, and teachers observe the Christmas and New Year festivities.
She stressed that the resumption date applies uniformly to all categories of schools in the state, noting that both teachers and learners are expected to return promptly, as academic activities will begin immediately upon resumption.
“The resumption is in accordance with the approved calendar for the academic year,” Aderiye said, emphasising that adherence to the schedule is crucial for maintaining academic stability and achieving set learning objectives.
According to her, the commencement of the second term marks a fresh phase in the academic cycle, during which students will actively participate in both academic and extracurricular programmes designed to enhance learning outcomes and holistic development.
She added that the state government is positioning the education sector for a more productive and impactful year, with renewed focus on discipline, quality teaching, and effective school management.
“Ekiti State Government will continue to provide the direction and regulations needed for excellent outcomes from schools,” the commissioner stated, assuring parents and stakeholders of the administration’s sustained investment in education.
Aderiye urged school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to cooperate fully in ensuring a smooth and successful second term, noting that collective responsibility remains key to strengthening the education system in Ekiti State.
