The Management of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has announced that the portal for the printing of admission letters for the 2025/2026 academic session will officially open on Friday, January 2, 2026.
In an internal memorandum released by the Admission Office on December 31, 2025, the university clarified that this initial phase of the admission process is strictly reserved for candidates who selected UNIMAID as their first choice during the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration.
According to the Deputy Registrar (Admissions), Dr. E.A. Felix, successful candidates are required to access their admission profiles via the university’s dedicated undergraduate platform, the UMSTAD portal. Candidates are instructed to use their JAMB Registration Number as both their username and password to log in and print their provisional admission letters.
The university management emphasized that the offer remains provisional and is subject to the candidate meeting specific departmental and faculty requirements. A critical prerequisite for printing the university’s internal admission letter is the successful acceptance of the offer on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
“Candidates must ensure they have accepted their admission on CAPS and printed their official JAMB admission letters before proceeding with the university’s internal documentation,” the memo stated.
Broader Context This development comes at a time of relative stability in Nigeria’s higher education sector, following the Federal Government’s recent commitment to implement the renegotiated 2009 agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) later this month. For UNIMAID, the timely commencement of the 2025/2026 admission cycle signals a push to maintain a predictable academic calendar despite the region’s historical challenges.
Newly admitted students are advised to prepare all necessary original credentials, including O’Level results and indigene certificates, in anticipation of the physical screening and clearance exercise, the dates for which will be announced shortly via the university’s official channels.
