The Vice-Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Professor Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo, has urged staff and students of the institution to fully utilize the newly introduced student portal, describing it as a critical tool for enhancing academic administration, service delivery and institutional efficiency.
The Vice-Chancellor made the call through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adekunle Adeoye Eludire, during an event titled “Exposition on the Functionality of the New University Student Portal,” held on the university campus. The programme was organised by the Management Information System (MIS) Unit of the university.
According to Professor Fakolujo, universities must continuously maximise available digital resources in order to meet the evolving academic, administrative and data management needs of modern higher education institutions. He noted that the success of any technological innovation depends largely on how well it is adopted by its end users.

He explained that the new student portal was designed to simplify processes, reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve access to academic and institutional services for both students and staff, stressing that underutilisation would defeat the purpose of the investment.
Professor Fakolujo further stated that effective and consistent use of the portal would enable the university management to properly assess its functionality, measure its impact and make informed decisions on future upgrades and policy directions.
“Technology is only as useful as the willingness of users to engage with it. When fully embraced, this portal will improve efficiency, transparency and accountability across academic and administrative operations,” he was quoted as saying.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the Management Information System Unit for spearheading the initiative, describing the portal as a major step towards strengthening JABU’s digital infrastructure and aligning the institution with global best practices in university management.
The MIS Unit, led by its Director, Dr. Adeday Olamide Oyebanji, explained that the portal integrates multiple academic and administrative functions into a single digital platform, thereby reducing delays and enhancing user experience.
Dr. Oyebanji noted that the portal is expected to handle key services such as course registration, fee payments, result checking, academic records management and communication between students and relevant university units.
He added that the exposition was organised to ensure that users clearly understand the portal’s features, functionalities and long-term benefits, while also providing an avenue to address initial concerns and feedback from staff and students.
The event was held in collaboration with Trinixbyte Solutions, the technology firm responsible for developing the portal. The company’s lead consultant, Mr. Paul Ajayi, gave a practical demonstration of the system and highlighted its security features and scalability.
Ajayi assured the university community that the portal was built to accommodate future upgrades and increasing user demands, noting that continuous support and technical assistance would be provided to ensure smooth operation.
Participants at the event, including academic and non-academic staff as well as students, expressed optimism that the new portal would significantly improve service delivery, reduce manual processes and enhance overall academic administration within the university.
