The National Education Records Database (NERD) portal has introduced new requirements that affect graduates seeking to complete their registration, particularly in the area of authorisation documents and project uploads.
According to the update, admission letters are no longer accepted as authorisation letters for NERD registration. Instead, only a Notification of Results or Statement of Results will now be recognised. This means graduates who do not yet have either document must obtain an official authorisation letter from their institution’s Registrar’s office or wait until their notification of results is issued.
The update applies to all graduates across institutions, marking a significant shift from the previous process where admission letters were sufficient for registration approval.
In addition, the NERD portal has made changes to its project upload requirements. Sections that were previously optional are now compulsory. Graduates are required to upload the Discussion, Conclusion, and Appendices sections of their projects, with no option to skip any of them.
The development has prompted advice to prospective registrants to carefully review the updated guidelines before proceeding with their registration to avoid delays or rejection of submissions.
Education stakeholders note that the changes appear aimed at improving record accuracy and standardisation, though they may extend processing time for graduates awaiting official result notifications.
Graduates currently working on their NERD registration are therefore urged to ensure compliance with the new documentation and project upload requirements before submitting their applications.
