Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has emerged as the overall winner of the Al-Hikmah University Inter-University Qur’ān Memorisation Competition, following an impressive performance by its representative at the just-concluded 4th edition of the contest held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
An engineering student of the university, Sadik Ahmad Usman, clinched the top position in Category B (30 Hizb: Baqarah to Kahf) after recording an outstanding total score of 99.5 per cent, the highest across all contestants in the category. His performance placed Bayero University ahead of other participating institutions in the keenly contested competition.

Ahmad edged out Atukale Abdulquadri Olarewaju of the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, University of Lagos, who scored 98.3 per cent, while Sheriffdeen AbdulRahman Akin of the Department of Building and Quantity Surveying, University of Abuja, came third with 98 per cent.
In Category A (10 Hizb), Firdausi Idris of the Department of Medicine, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, emerged first. He was followed by Abdulmumeen Abubakar Al-Imam Ziyadatul Khayr Al-Ameen of Al-Hikmah University and the University of Ilorin, who placed second and third, respectively.
The competition, hosted by Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, featured participants from universities across the country and was aimed at promoting Qur’ānic memorisation, moral discipline, and intellectual excellence among Nigerian undergraduates.
Bayero University’s overall victory highlights its continued commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of its students beyond the conventional classroom setting.
