Nigeria’s Minister of Education on Thursday hosted the second Co-Chair meeting of the National Talent Accelerator under National Talent Export Programme Nigeria, advancing plans to accelerate skills development nationwide.
The meeting held February 12, 2026, reviewed outcomes from the programme’s inaugural roundtable in November 2025, with stakeholders agreeing on concrete steps to strengthen Nigeria’s talent pipeline.
The minister described the initiative as a strategic intervention aimed at aligning education, industry needs, and workforce readiness.
At the centre of discussions was the Nigeria Skills Accelerator, positioned as a collaborative platform bringing together government, academia, industry leaders, and development partners to prepare Nigerian youths for global competitiveness.
Participants included representatives from the Africa Finance Corporation and Flour Mills of Nigeria, alongside members of the accelerator committee and programme delegates. Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to translating policy dialogue into measurable action.
Education sector observers say the initiative reflects growing recognition of the need to modernise skills training and bridge the gap between learning institutions and labour market demands.
Officials expressed optimism that sustained collaboration under the accelerator framework will position Nigeria as a regional hub for skilled talent and innovation.
