Kings University, Odeomu, in Osun State has organised a three-day staff productivity enhancement training aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening institutional effectiveness.
The training, themed “Transforming Kings University: Enhancing Skills and Productivity,” brought together academic and non-academic staff of the institution to build professional capacity and promote improved work culture across departments.
Declaring the programme open, the Vice-Chancellor, Adenike Kuku, said the university had made significant progress but must continue striving for higher standards in competence, productivity, and institutional development.
She noted that although the institution had grown over the years, there was still a need for continuous improvement, adding that staff development remained a key strategy for achieving the university’s long-term goals.
The first day of the training featured sessions on code of conduct, time management, and effective communication, facilitated by the Director of Academic Planning and the Deputy Registrar, with participants encouraged to adopt intentional practices that support organisational growth.
On the second day, the University Bursar, Temitope Ajani, delivered a lecture on financial management and budgeting, where he highlighted the importance of prudent resource allocation and financial discipline both within the university system and in personal life.
Another session focused on institutional culture, where staff were reminded that their behaviour and professional conduct contribute significantly to the public image and reputation of the university.
Participants also received training on digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness from the Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology, A. B. Owolabi, who stressed the importance of responsible data management and security in the digital age.
The final day featured lectures on digital record management, workplace health and safety, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion. The Vice-Chancellor later commended staff for their active participation and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuous professional development.
