The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that the FCT University of Science and Technology Abaji will commence operations during the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wike gave the assurance on Tuesday while addressing residents in Abaji, where he visited to appreciate voters for supporting candidates of the ruling party during the February 21 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the minister, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has already begun putting in place key infrastructure and facilities required for the university to take off.
He urged residents to remain patient, assuring them that the project would become a reality within the tenure of the current administration.
Wike noted that the university would not only benefit the people of Abaji but also serve residents across the Federal Capital Territory by creating job opportunities and attracting development to the community.
He also emphasised the need for leaders to appreciate the support of citizens, stating that his visit to Abaji was to thank residents for their strong backing of the President and his party during the recent council elections.
The minister added that governance must go beyond campaign promises, stressing that leaders should demonstrate commitment by delivering projects and programmes that positively impact the lives of the people.
During the visit, Wike also promised to address gully erosion affecting some communities in the area and to revive an abandoned 15-kilometre road project, while assuring residents that the Federal Capital Territory Administration would continue to support development initiatives in Abaji.
