The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed a circulating notice claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, the examination body described the press release as fake and urged the public to disregard it.
“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious press release stating that the 2026 UTME has been postponed,” the board stated.
JAMB clarified that the notice did not originate from the board and warned candidates, parents, and the general public against spreading unverified information.
The fake notice, dated April 1, 2026, falsely claimed that the UTME originally scheduled for April had been moved to August due to administrative and logistical adjustments.
However, JAMB emphasized that all activities related to the 2026 UTME remain unchanged.
“The general public, particularly the candidates, are by this notice informed that the press release is fake and did not emanate from us. Kindly disregard it,” the board said.
JAMB further reassured candidates that preparations for the examination are continuing as scheduled.
The board also advised candidates and stakeholders to rely only on its official communication channels for verified information regarding the UTME.
