Moniepoint Group has announced a ₦3 billion investment to establish three Innovation Hubs across major Nigerian universities as part of efforts to deepen technology talent development in the country.
The hubs will be located at Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Ahmadu Bello University.
The initiative, described as one of the largest private-sector contributions to Nigerian higher education in recent years, is aimed at expanding access to practical technology training across different regions of Nigeria.
Each hub will serve as a hands-on centre for software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, robotics, design, product development, and entrepreneurship.
According to Moniepoint, the programme will be open to students from all faculties and will offer structured cohort learning, mentorship, real-world project experience, internships, and direct engagement with the company’s engineering and product teams.
The initiative builds on Moniepoint’s previous investments in education and innovation, including the CAD/CAM laboratory at OAU and the HatchDev programme at UNILAG.
Speaking at the launch, Moniepoint Chief Executive Officer, Tosin Eniolorunda, said Nigeria’s digital future depends on homegrown, industry-ready talent trained within Nigerian universities.
University leaders also welcomed the project, noting that the hubs would expand learning opportunities and inspire more students to pursue innovation-driven careers.
Moniepoint said the hubs are not designed as classrooms alone, but as launchpads for future innovators who will contribute to Africa’s digital economy.
