The Students Executive Council of the Vocational and Technical Students Association (VOTESA), Yaba College of Technology, has issued a security advisory warning students to remain vigilant following reports of suspected kidnappers allegedly operating around the Epe area of Lagos State.
In a memo dated May 24, 2026, and signed by the association’s Executive President, Keshinro Aleem Olamilekan, and General Secretary, Adeyemo Mariam, the student body alerted members to reports that individuals posing as security operatives may be targeting unsuspecting residents and students.
The notice urged students to exercise caution when approached by unknown persons claiming to be law enforcement officers and advised them to seek public attention if confronted with suspicious situations.
Students were also encouraged to avoid isolated areas, move in groups whenever possible, and keep friends or family members informed about their movements.
“Your safety is our priority. Stay alert and stay safe,” the statement read.
The advisory comes amid growing concerns over insecurity and reports of abduction incidents in different parts of the country, particularly around educational institutions.
However, as of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from the Lagos State Police Command regarding the specific allegations contained in the student body’s notice.
Security experts have consistently advised members of the public to verify the identity of security personnel and promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
Students and residents have also been urged to rely on verified information from security agencies while maintaining vigilance in their daily activities.
