The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has approved the expulsion of two students and the rustication of four others for one academic session following separate disciplinary cases involving alleged misconduct on campus.
The disciplinary measures were ratified during the institution’s 31st Regular Meeting of the University Senate after recommendations submitted by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. According to the university, the decisions were reached after due consideration of the reported incidents and in line with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.
The university disclosed that the two students were expelled over allegations of engaging in same-sex practices, while four other students received one academic session of rustication for their involvement in a physical altercation on campus. Official notification letters conveying the sanctions were signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Gbadafu, and forwarded to the affected students.
The institution maintained that its disciplinary procedures are intended to preserve order, uphold institutional regulations and promote an environment that supports teaching, learning and responsible student conduct. It noted that the sanctions were imposed after the disciplinary committee completed its investigations and presented its recommendations to the Senate for approval.
CUSTECH reiterated its commitment to enforcing its code of conduct without exception, stressing that all students are expected to comply with the university’s rules throughout their academic journey. The management added that maintaining discipline remains essential to safeguarding the integrity of the institution and fostering a peaceful atmosphere conducive to academic excellence.
The latest disciplinary actions underscore the university’s continued emphasis on ethical behaviour, respect for institutional regulations and responsible citizenship among students. University authorities encouraged members of the academic community to conduct themselves in ways that reflect the values of the institution while avoiding actions capable of disrupting the learning environment or jeopardising their educational pursuits.
