The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has challenged graduates of Babcock University to uphold integrity, remain intellectually curious and embrace lifelong learning as they prepare to contribute to national development and the global workforce.
Sanwo-Olu gave the charge while delivering the Convocation Lecture at the 2026 Convocation Ceremony of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, where he served as the guest speaker.
Addressing the graduating class, the governor expressed confidence in the potential of Nigerian youths, describing the graduates as capable leaders whose knowledge, innovation and character would shape the country’s future.
According to him, spending time with the graduating students reinforced his optimism about Nigeria’s future.
“I delivered the Convocation Lecture at the 2026 Convocation Ceremony of Babcock University in Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
“Spending time with these bright young graduates tells me that the future of our country is in capable hands. I encouraged them to stay curious, work with integrity, embrace lifelong learning and never lose sight of the values that will guide them through every stage of life,” the governor stated.
Sanwo-Olu also commended the management of Babcock University for inviting him to participate in the institution’s graduation ceremony and for its continued commitment to producing graduates equipped for leadership and national development.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him during the event and congratulated the graduating students on reaching an important milestone in their academic journey.
“My appreciation to the management of Babcock University for the warm reception and sharing in this important milestone with the graduating class. I wish every one of them success as they begin this new chapter,” he added.
The convocation ceremony brought together university administrators, members of the governing council, academic staff, parents, alumni, invited guests and graduating students to celebrate the successful completion of their academic programmes.
Sanwo-Olu’s lecture focused on the importance of character, continuous learning and ethical leadership, encouraging the graduates to remain committed to excellence as they pursue careers, entrepreneurship and further academic pursuits.
