The Nigerian Law School has confirmed the death of a student who was undertaking an externship programme in Lagos and was temporarily accommodated at the institution’s Lagos Campus hostel.
The Council of Legal Education, Nigerian Law School, disclosed this in a statement signed by its Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, Aderonke O. Osho, on Monday, August 10, 2026.
According to the statement, the deceased was a student of the Nigerian Law School’s Enugu Campus and had been in Lagos as part of the externship programme.
The Law School said the student died following an incident at the Lagos Campus hostel in the early hours of Friday, August 7.
Management said it was working with the relevant authorities and the deceased’s family to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all necessary procedures were followed.
The institution expressed sadness over the death and extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, colleagues and others affected by the loss.
It also disclosed that the family had requested privacy and appealed to members of the public and the media to respect the family’s wishes as they mourn.
The Nigerian Law School reaffirmed its commitment to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of its students and staff.
The statement did not disclose further details about the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, saying additional information would be provided as appropriate.
