President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Isiaka Tunji Adelabu as the substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State.
The appointment, which took effect on August 5, 2026, makes Dr Adelabu the second substantive Rector of the institution since its establishment.
The development was announced by the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr Akinlolu Akinpade, and made public by the Acting Director of the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations, Mr Sunday Adepoju.
Before his appointment, Dr Adelabu was a Chartered Accountant and Chief Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State.
He brings to the new position experience spanning academic work, professional accounting practice and institutional administration.
At the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Dr Adelabu previously served in several administrative positions, including Head of Department, Dean of School and Deputy Rector (Administration).
His experience in these positions is expected to provide him with familiarity with academic administration, staff management, institutional planning and the coordination of polytechnic programmes.
The appointment comes at a significant period in the development of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, as the institution continues to strengthen its academic programmes, infrastructure and administrative structures.
As substantive Rector, Dr Adelabu will be responsible for providing overall academic and administrative leadership while working with the Governing Council, management, staff and students to advance the institution’s mandate.
The Registrar said the new Rector’s academic contributions, professional experience and administrative competence would contribute to the continued growth and development of the Polytechnic.
Dr Adelabu’s background in accountancy and his previous experience in senior administrative positions also place financial management and institutional administration among areas in which his experience could be brought to bear on the Polytechnic’s development.
The Polytechnic Management, staff and students have been called upon to give the new Rector the necessary support and cooperation as he assumes office.
The Registrar, on behalf of the institution, also expressed goodwill towards Dr Adelabu and wished him wisdom, strength and the capacity to provide purposeful leadership.
His appointment formally ends the period of acting leadership and provides Federal Polytechnic Ayede with a substantive Rector to lead its next phase of institutional development.
Dr Adelabu is expected to work with the institution’s governing structures and the wider Polytechnic community in advancing its vision, strengthening academic delivery and consolidating its position within Nigeria’s technical and vocational higher education system.
