Lagos State University’s (LASU) overall best graduating student for the 2025/2026 academic session, Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, has received a N10 million award for his outstanding academic performance.
Oluolamide, a graduate of Aerospace Engineering, finished with a cumulative grade point average of 4.97 out of 5.00, earning First-Class Honours and emerging as the university’s overall best graduating student.
The cash award was presented to him under the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme (SEPP) during LASU’s combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremony held on Monday at the Olatunji Bello Auditorium, Epe Campus.
The programme is designed to recognise academic excellence among university students while providing opportunities for mentorship, career development and exposure to industry.
Oluolamide, reacting to the achievement, attributed his academic success to God.
He had earlier disclosed that he was named Scholar of the Year at the Aerospace Engineering Students’ Association of LASU dinner, marking his second time receiving the award during his undergraduate studies.
The Aerospace Engineering graduate also had two research papers accepted for presentation at the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ NAICE 2026 conference in Lagos.
The development comes as LASU graduates more than 20,000 students across the two academic sessions covered by the combined convocation.
The university said 494 of the graduates earned First-Class Honours.
Oluolamide’s achievement places him among the highest-performing graduates of the university and highlights the growing emphasis on academic excellence, research and industry-linked opportunities in higher education.
