The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has confirmed that all outstanding results in the Department of English linked to the recent controversy over the graduation status of some students have now been uploaded.
The clarification came on Sunday, following an enquiry by the university management into allegations that some graduating students had been prevented from completing their programmes because their results were yet to be uploaded.
In a statement, the university said the Department of English had completed the upload of all outstanding results as of Sunday, August 23.
LASU consequently assured that students who have fulfilled all requirements for graduation will graduate with their peers in the just-concluded 2025/2026 academic session.
The university also clarified that no student who has met all graduation requirements will be required to spend an additional year because of the results issue that prompted concerns among affected students.
However, LASU noted that students whose results remain outstanding after the latest upload may still have outstanding graduation requirements to fulfil.
“Any student whose result remains outstanding following this action has yet to fulfil the requirements for graduation and is advised to complete the necessary requirements accordingly,” the university said.
The development follows concerns raised online on Sunday over claims that more than 100 students in the Department of English could be delayed from graduating because of outstanding results allegedly not uploaded by a lecturer.
The allegations generated reactions from students and members of the public, with some students expressing concern that they could be forced to spend an additional academic year despite having completed their studies.
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) subsequently said it had opened discussions with the university management over the matter and urged affected students to remain calm.
LASU management initially acknowledged the allegations, saying the matter was being investigated.
With the university now confirming that the outstanding results have been uploaded, the immediate concern over eligible students being delayed by the issue appears to have been addressed.
The university reiterated its commitment to ensuring that students who have satisfied all graduation requirements are not unduly delayed in completing their programmes.
