A First-Class alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Emmanuel Ayodeji Ogunjimi, has graduated with distinction from the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme in Sustainable Mineral and Metal Processing Engineering (PROMISE), an international programme delivered across leading European universities.
Ogunjimi, a graduate of Mining Engineering at FUTA, completed the highly competitive programme through academic mobility involving the University of Oulu in Finland, Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria and the University of Zagreb in Croatia under a fully funded Erasmus Mundus scholarship. The PROMISE programme is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in sustainable mineral and metal processing, with emphasis on the evolving global minerals industry.
During the programme, Ogunjimi participated in academic and research activities focused on sustainable processing and the development of expertise relevant to the production and recovery of critical minerals. His achievement adds to the growing number of Nigerian graduates gaining international exposure through Erasmus Mundus opportunities.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, Ogunjimi attributed his success to God and expressed appreciation to his parents, family, friends and colleagues for their support throughout the programme. He also acknowledged FUTA for providing the academic foundation, discipline and resilience that prepared him for the international academic journey.
Ogunjimi said the completion of the programme was not an endpoint but the beginning of a new phase, adding, “This is the beginning of an even greater phase. I mastered it, but it has only just begun. I am very excited about what lies ahead in the future.”
The achievement further highlights the opportunities available to Nigerian graduates through international scholarship programmes, particularly in specialised fields linked to sustainable development, mineral processing, technology and the future of the global resources industry.
