The University of Oxford has extended an invitation to Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo Southern Senatorial District, to speak at the 2024 Oxford Major Programme Management Conference on mega projects. In a letter signed by Daniel Armanios, BT Professor and Chair of Major Programme Management at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, Senator Ibrahim, a billionaire business mogul, and Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gilland, were both invited to address the same subject matter.
Senator Ibrahim’s invitation to the prestigious conference is in recognition of his expertise in mega projects, particularly based on his PhD program at the United Kingdom university focusing on abandoned mega projects. The conference, scheduled for December 7, 2024, aims to bring together practitioners, academics, and global leaders involved in major programs and large-scale initiatives across various sectors such as infrastructure, defense, transportation, health, and non-profits.
The invitation letter highlights the importance of the conference in providing a platform for partnership, learning, and growth, showcasing the global benefits of major programs, and identifying thought leaders and practitioners in the field. Senator Ibrahim is specifically encouraged to share his experiences in Nigeria, including his contributions to the establishment of the University of Fortune, a major program in itself.
The conference aims to address challenges, celebrate successes, and spark discussions on the development of major programs in different regions, including sub-Saharan Africa. The University of Oxford, known as the oldest university in the English-speaking world, offers a unique setting for these important conversations and exchanges of ideas.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s participation in the conference is anticipated to enrich the dialogue and contribute valuable insights from his experiences in Nigeria’s mega projects landscape, further positioning him as a key figure in driving innovation and development in the region.
