Ezekiel Oluwaseyi Agboola, also known as Seyi Ezekiel, a 200-level Physics student, who is also campaigning for the position of the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU , has promised to elevate the Union’s communication strategies and strengthen its relationship with students.
“The P.R.O. is the Union’s voice and image-maker,” Seyi explains. “My mission is to ensure that the image we project aligns with the values of the students we represent.”
One of his primary goals is to create an official UI’SU website, offering a central hub for Union updates, academic resources, event registrations, and more. “In an era of digital communication, it’s crucial that we modernize and centralize the Union’s information,” he stated .
While digital tools are important, Seyi also plans to revamp physical communication on campus. “Notice boards and public address systems are underutilized. I want to ensure these platforms are regularly updated with relevant information,” he added.
Seyi also hopes to continue the successful UI’SU Boot Camp, equipping students with digital skills to balance academics and work. “This initiative will help students earn while studying and improve their employ-ability,” he affirmed.
In addition to these projects, Seyi plans to introduce UI Creators, a platform for student content creators to showcase their work and collaborate. “We need to support our creative students and help them reach a wider audience,” Seyi says.
Seyi has also introduced a new initiative to encourage greater involvement in public relations across campus. He plans to launch the PROactive PRO of the Year award. This will recognize students who have excelled in promoting Union activities, engaging their constituencies, and enhancing communication. “The PROactive PRO of the Year award will not only highlight excellence in public relations, but also motivate students to actively contribute to the Union’s success,” he says. The award will be presented at the UI’SU Week Variety Night, celebrating the individuals who have gone above and beyond in promoting student unity and engagement.
Seyi’s candidacy offered a vision of a more connected and empowered student body. “The Union should be a space where students feel heard, informed, and engaged,” he concluded.
