Nigerian students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom now have a major funding opportunity as the University of Warwick has announced its prestigious WMG Africa Scholarship. The scheme offers up to £20,000 (approximately N42 million) in tuition support for eligible students applying to full-time MSc programmes for the 2025 academic year.
The scholarship is specifically available for courses under Warwick’s WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) department, covering high-demand fields such as Engineering, Business, Technology, Innovation, and Healthcare. These programmes are known for their strong industry focus and practical, career-oriented learning.
“Our goal is to support future leaders from West Africa with world-class education and practical, industry-ready experience,” said Dr. Anthony Olomolaiye, a British-Nigerian academic at Warwick, who recently led a delegation to Nigeria and Ghana to promote the scholarship scheme. Dr. Olomolaiye hosted a WMG Information Day in Lagos and also interacted with prospective applicants during the QS education fairs in Abuja and Lagos.
The WMG Africa Scholarship targets bright and ambitious students committed to making a transformative impact in their communities. Eligible programmes include MSc Cyber Security, MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence, MSc Engineering Business Management, MSc Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and MSc Healthcare Operational Management, among others.
In addition to the Africa-specific scholarship, Warwick is also offering the WMG Excellence Scholarship, which provides tuition discounts of up to £15,000 for outstanding candidates from all regions. This provides an additional layer of support for students with exceptional academic and leadership potential.
Applicants must demonstrate academic merit, leadership experience, and a commitment to development in Africa. “We are investing in young Africans who will become change agents in their fields,” said Dr. Olomolaiye, encouraging students to take advantage of the opportunity and submit their applications early to stand the best chance of receiving support.
The scholarships reflect Warwick’s continued efforts to increase diversity and foster international collaboration, especially with talented students from West Africa.
