Governor Zulum announced the handover during a courtesy visit by a delegation of Bama indigenes, led by the Shehu of Bama, Dr Umar Ibn Kyari El-Kanemi, at the Government House in Maiduguri.
According to the Shehu, the visit was to appreciate the state government for its pivotal role in securing federal approval for the university and supporting its early takeoff.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to educational development, Zulum described the university as a strategic investment in the state’s future, with potential to transform the region through knowledge, skills development, and economic empowerment.

He commended the sponsor of the university’s establishment bill, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, along with other National Assembly members from Borno State for their support and collaboration.
