The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) have issued a stern warning to students ahead of the commencement of the Rain Semester examinations, cautioning them against flouting examination rules and regulations.
In a bulletin released by the institution, the management urged students to strictly adhere to the university’s code of conduct on examinations, as outlined in the Students’ Handbook and Academic Programmes Manual.
The university stressed that only approved books, papers and materials authorised by the respective departments would be allowed into examination venues. It warned that possession of mobile phones, smart devices or unauthorised aids, whether used or not, could constitute examination malpractice.
The statement read in part: “Candidates shall not introduce or attempt to introduce handsets, flash drives, notes or similar items into the examination hall. Any such item found, even if switched off, will be impounded.”
The institution further directed that students must:
-Use only their matriculation numbers. No names should appear on answer booklets
-Refrain from writing examinations for other students or engaging in impersonation
-Remain in the examination hall for at least 75 per cent of the allotted time
-Avoid all forms of communication with fellow candidates during the examination
The university also cautioned against body inscriptions or dress code violations, noting that any markings on arms, palms, thighs or clothing that bear relevance to the examination would attract sanctions.
For students writing Computer Based Tests (CBTs), the management emphasised that orderliness must prevail at all centres and warned that any form of disruption would not be tolerated.
In a separate advisory shared via its official platforms, the university reminded students to:
- Familiarise themselves with the examination rules and regulations
- Come along with valid student identity cards, which are mandatory
- Dress in line with the approved dress code, as enforcement will be strict
The management urged all students to conduct themselves responsibly, warning that any breach of the rules would attract disciplinary action in accordance with the university’s policies on academic integrity.
