The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has commended the Fact-Finding Committee constituted to investigate the leadership crisis at the African Institute for University Education (AIFUE), praising the committee for its objective and thorough report.
Following an in-depth investigation, the committee confirmed that due process was followed in the appointment of Professor Stella Ngozi Lemchi as Vice Chancellor of AIFUE. It also affirmed the validity of her Professorship and dismissed the petitions filed against her as baseless and without merit. Notably, all four staff unions at the institution supported this position.
In line with the committee’s findings, the report recommended the reinstatement of Prof. Lemchi as the substantive Vice Chancellor of AIFUE.
Responding to the report, Minister Alausa expressed appreciation for the integrity and professionalism of the committee and assured stakeholders that the Ministry would always act in the best interest of the education sector and uphold the principles of justice and due process.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting transparency, fairness, and institutional stability across Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
