The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for seven new undergraduate programmes at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti (BOUESTI), raising the university’s total number of accredited programmes to 85, a significant milestone achieved within just five years of the institution’s establishment.
In a statement released on Monday, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Temitope Akinbisoye, listed the newly accredited programmes as B.Sc. Data Science, B.Sc. Public Relations, B.Sc. Advertising, B.Sc. Broadcasting, B.Sc. Journalism, B.Sc. Brewing Science, and B.Sc. Crop Science. The programmes are scheduled to commence in the 2025/2026 academic session.
Akinbisoye explained that the NUC’s approval followed a successful resource assessment visit conducted in April 2025. Confirmation of the approval was communicated via a letter dated July 28, 2025, signed by Abubakar Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning at the Commission.
“With this latest addition, the number of approved academic programmes in BOUESTI has risen to 85, all secured within just five years of the institution’s establishment. This remarkable feat further underscores the university’s rapid academic expansion, commitment to quality education, and responsiveness to the dynamic demands of the 21st-century workforce,” Akinbisoye noted.
Reacting to the development, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Adeoluwa, expressed appreciation to the NUC for its continued support and pledged the institution’s commitment to maintaining academic excellence. He also lauded the efforts of staff across relevant faculties and departments for their roles in achieving the successful accreditation.
“BOUESTI has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, constantly breaking new ground and shattering glass ceilings in the Nigerian higher education landscape,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
Established in 2020 by the Ekiti State Government, BOUESTI has rapidly gained recognition for its ambitious academic growth and innovation-driven programmes aimed at preparing students for both local and global relevance.
