The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) sub-committee on underage admission has submitted its report, unveiling the criteria and mode of screening for 599 shortlisted exceptional candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The report was submitted on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. The sub-committee’s chairman, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, announced that the shortlisted candidates would be subjected to a written test followed by an oral interview. The screening is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 26, 2025, at three pre-approved venues: Lagos, Abuja, and Oweni.
The screening will assess the candidates’ readiness for the academic, social, and emotional demands of higher education, focusing on the “Affective Domain.”
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, noted that out of the 41,027 underage candidates who attempted the 2025 UTME, a significant majority, 40,428 did not meet the initial requirements to proceed to the screening stage. He emphasized that the screening process is a standard global practice to ensure only exceptional and well-prepared candidates gain admission.
The registrar reiterated the board’s commitment to a fair, transparent, and globally compliant process.
