The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has officially announced the commencement of its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) online screening exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session. According to the management, the screening will begin on Friday, August 22, 2025, for all eligible applicants who made ATBU their choice of institution during the UTME registration.
In line with the institution’s admission requirements, candidates must have scored 160 and above in the 2025 UTME to be considered for the screening. Direct Entry applicants are also eligible, provided they meet the prescribed requirements as set by the University and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The management emphasized that only candidates who meet these conditions will be allowed to proceed with the screening exercise.
The University has outlined a step-by-step procedure for candidates to follow during the registration. Interested applicants are expected to visit the institution’s official screening portal at https://screening.atbu.edu.ng to initiate the process. The screening exercise comes with a non-refundable fee of ₦2,000 (Two Thousand Naira only) which must be paid through the REMITA platform before proceeding with the registration.
Candidates are expected to log on to the portal, make payment, and strictly follow the instructions provided online to complete the screening form. After completing the form, applicants must upload all required documents, including UTME or DE result slips, O’Level results, and other relevant credentials as specified by the University. Upon submission, an acknowledgment slip must be printed and retained as proof of successful application.
The University further warned candidates to ensure accuracy in all their entries while filling out the online form. Any false information or errors could result in automatic disqualification. Applicants are therefore urged to double-check every detail before submitting their forms. The acknowledgment slip will also serve as evidence during subsequent admission processes, making it a crucial part of the screening.
For transparency and accountability, the institution has assured candidates that the screening exercise will be conducted strictly in line with JAMB’s admission guidelines. The management noted that no applicant will be offered admission outside of the stipulated requirements. Parents and guardians were equally advised to avoid undue influence or patronizing unauthorized agents, as all processes must be carried out strictly through the official ATBU portal.
The University’s ICT Directorate and Admissions Office will be available to provide technical support to candidates who may encounter challenges during the registration process. For ease of communication, applicants can also contact the University directly through the official helplines provided: 08039597262 and 07069554862. These support channels will remain open throughout the registration period to assist candidates promptly.
Meanwhile, the management reiterated that the screening exercise is a prerequisite for admission into ATBU for the 2025/2026 academic session. Candidates who fail to register within the stipulated period will not be considered for admission, regardless of their UTME or DE scores. The deadline for registration is expected to be announced in due course, but applicants are advised to complete the process as early as possible to avoid last-minute hitches.
The institution also encouraged applicants to regularly visit its official website for updates and clarifications. This is to prevent the spread of misinformation and fake news often circulated on social media platforms. Official announcements concerning deadlines, admission lists, and further instructions will be published exclusively on the University’s website and recognized national dailies.
With this development, ATBU has joined other Nigerian universities in rolling out their 2025/2026 admission processes. The management expressed optimism that the exercise will be seamless, transparent, and reflective of merit-based admission, while urging all applicants to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided.
