The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has conducted a Computer-Based Test (CBT) recruitment examination for prospective teachers of the state’s newly established Model Schools.
The exercise, held on 2 September 2025, took place at two accredited centers: the Federal College of Education, Katsina, and the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University ICT Centre. Candidates who sat for the exam were those shortlisted through the ministry’s online recruitment portal based on merit, with applicants drawn from all 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking while monitoring the process, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Ummulkhairi Ahmed Bawa, disclosed that a total of 494 applicants participated in the test. She emphasized that the recruitment exercise was strictly merit-based, stressing the ministry’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and justice under the leadership of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa.
“The recruitment process will remain transparent, and only those who meet the set criteria will be considered. Today’s examination was conducted successfully without any hitch,” Ummulkhairi said.
Also addressing the exercise, a consultant from Hallmark Educational Consult, Hajiya Zainab Bugaje Jika, explained that the recruitment was open to all qualified applicants. She added that successful candidates will be deployed to Model Schools located in Radda (Katsina Zone), Durmukal (Daura Zone), and Jikamshi (Funtua Zone).
The monitoring team was led by the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Ummulkhairi Ahmed Bawa, alongside Salisu Yakubu, Director of Administration and Supply; other senior directors from the ministry; Hajiya Zainab Bugaje Jika of Hallmark Educational Consult; and Usman Sale, Technical Assistant to the Commissioner.
The initiative forms part of the education sector reforms being implemented by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration to strengthen the quality of teaching and learning across the state.
