The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fully fund all Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) across Nigeria, guaranteeing that tuition and core expenses are free of charge.
In a statement released on September 24 and signed by the Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, warned that no principal or school administrator is permitted to demand unauthorized payments from parents or guardians. Circulars reinforcing this policy have been directed to all schools and parents.
Parents have been urged to report any illegal charges directly to the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Alausa clarified that while tuition and core expenses are covered, students are expected to provide personal items such as bedding, toiletries, clothing, and cleaning materials.
This initiative supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip Nigerian youth with employable skills for national development.
“No Nigerian child should be denied access to technical education because of illegal charges,” Dr. Alausa affirmed.
The Ministry also confirmed that monitoring mechanisms are in place to ensure compliance and called on all stakeholders to safeguard the free education policy.
