The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has officially announced the commencement of applications for qualified individuals interested in pursuing a career in teaching across public schools in Lagos State. According to the Board, the recruitment exercise comes with the kind approval of the Governor of Lagos State and is designed to strengthen the delivery of quality education in the state’s basic education sector.
In a statement released by LASUBEB, the agency revealed that the application portal is now open and accessible through subebjobs.lagosstate.gov.ng. The portal serves as the only official platform for submitting applications, as the process has been structured to ensure transparency, merit-based selection, and ease for applicants across different locations.
The initiative marks another step in Lagos State’s commitment to reforming and revitalizing its education system by ensuring that classrooms are staffed with qualified, competent, and motivated teachers. Over the years, the state has consistently emphasized that quality education is one of the key drivers of social and economic development, and teacher recruitment plays a central role in this mission.
According to the guidelines published, eligible applicants must hold one of the following qualifications: Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), B.A (Ed), B.Sc (Ed), B.Ed, HND with PGDE, B.A with PGDE, or B.Sc with PGDE. These categories have been outlined to accommodate a wide pool of qualified candidates who have undergone professional teacher training or conversion.

Additionally, applicants are expected to possess certain mandatory documents. These include an O’Level Certificate (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), a degree or NCE certificate, and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate where applicable. LASUBEB has also stressed that statements of results issued beyond two years from the date of application will not be considered valid, emphasizing the importance of formal, verifiable documentation.
The Board was unequivocal in its warning against fraudulent practices during the application process. It categorically stated that no individual or group has been authorized to collect money from applicants, adding that the entire exercise is free of charge. This measure is intended to protect unsuspecting job seekers from falling prey to scammers, a problem that has historically plagued public sector recruitment in Nigeria.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB reiterated that this recruitment drive reflects the state government’s unwavering focus on raising educational standards. He noted that teachers are the backbone of education delivery, and ensuring that classrooms are manned by capable professionals is a crucial step in guaranteeing that children in Lagos receive world-class instruction.
The announcement has sparked excitement among education graduates and job seekers across the state, many of whom see the opportunity as a chance to build meaningful careers in the teaching profession. Social media platforms have already begun buzzing with discussions about the application process, with users sharing tips and encouragement among peers.
LASUBEB, however, emphasized that the application process is competitive and will be strictly merit-based. Successful candidates will be selected based on qualifications, performance in the recruitment assessments, and their readiness to contribute to the advancement of Lagos’ education system. This is expected to foster fairness and transparency while attracting only the most suitable applicants.
The application portal is open until October 14, 2025, after which no new submissions will be accepted. Interested candidates have therefore been advised to submit their applications early to avoid last-minute technical issues that may arise due to high traffic on the portal.
With this recruitment exercise, LASUBEB continues to align itself with Lagos State’s broader agenda of human capital development and educational excellence. The Board’s call to action is clear: qualified individuals are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity not just to secure employment, but to play an active role in shaping the future of education in Lagos State.
