The Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Oro, Professor Mukaila Ayanda Aremu, has congratulated Dr. Gabriel Ademakinwa Adeoye, Head of the Department of Biology, for emerging as the Best Male Participant from Colleges of Education in Nigeria in the recently concluded Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE) Training Programme on Basic Cybersecurity for Higher Education.
The training, held between April 28 and July 15, 2025, was organized by the VICBHE and supported by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in collaboration with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). It was directed by Distinguished Professor Peter A. Okebukola and attracted 4,653 participants from tertiary institutions and regulatory agencies across Africa.
Dr. Adeoye, who was the only representative of Kwara State College of Education, Oro, distinguished himself by graduating with Distinction Plus. His exceptional performance earned him recognition as the Best Male Participant from Colleges of Education and a special award sponsored by Arc. Sonny Echono.
In addition, he was inducted as a Chartered Member of the Association of Cybersecurity Practitioners (ACSP) in recognition of his excellence and contribution to advancing digital security awareness in the higher education sector.
The management, staff, and students of the College have lauded Dr. Adeoye’s achievement, describing it as a reflection of the institution’s growing commitment to academic excellence and professional development.
In a congratulatory message, the Provost, Professor Aremu, commended Dr. Adeoye for bringing pride to the College and urged other staff to emulate his dedication and pursuit of excellence.
He expressed confidence that the recognition would further inspire the institution’s drive toward innovation, research, and global competitiveness.
The College community joined in celebrating the milestone, wishing Dr. Adeoye continued success in his professional and academic endeavours.
