The Governing Council of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has appointed Professor Adekunle Olanrewaju Adeogun as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution. The appointment was ratified during an emergency meeting of the Council held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, following the completion of the tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwole Banjo.
According to a statement issued by the University’s Registrar, Mr. Oladapo Oke, Professor Adeogun’s appointment will take effect from November 4, 2025, the official date of Professor Banjo’s exit after completing his five-year tenure. The statement explained that Adeogun will oversee the affairs of the institution pending the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor.
Before his new role, Professor Adeogun served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor under Professor Banjo’s administration, contributing significantly to the institution’s academic and administrative development. A seasoned scholar, Adeogun is a Professor of Public Health Education with over two decades of academic and research experience.
The Governing Council described the appointment as a strategic step to ensure continuity and stability in leadership as TASUED continues to pursue its mission of educational excellence and teacher development. The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Professor Adisa Bello, congratulated Adeogun, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity and wishing him success in steering the university forward.
The outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wole Banjo, also extended his goodwill to his successor, commending him for his years of loyalty, dedication, and academic distinction. He prayed for divine wisdom and guidance for the Acting Vice-Chancellor as he assumed the new responsibility of managing the university’s affairs.
The statement highlighted Adeogun’s impressive academic background, tracing his career from his early beginnings as a Lecturer III at the then Ogun State College of Education (now TASUED) on October 1, 1999. Through diligence and excellence, he rose through the ranks and attained the rank of Professor on October 1, 2016.
Professor Adeogun’s academic journey reflects a strong foundation in education and health sciences. He obtained his National Certificate in Education (NCE) from the Ogun State College of Education in 1990, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Port Harcourt in 1995, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Olabisi Onabanjo University in 2003, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Ibadan in 2008.
As a prolific academic, he has authored over 50 scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in Public Health Education and teacher training. His extensive research record and administrative experience have positioned him as a respected figure within the university community and Nigeria’s education sector at large.
Professor Adeogun’s emergence comes at a crucial time in TASUED’s history, as the institution strengthens its leadership structure to align with its long-term vision of producing skilled educators and advancing academic excellence.
