He described the development as a major endorsement of OAUSTECH’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the production of globally competitive graduates.
“The new programmes will equip our students with cutting-edge knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving global environment,” he said.
The vice chancellor noted that the university would begin admission into the new undergraduate programmes once they are listed on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal.
Prof. Ologunorisa thanked the NUC for the approval and urged members of the university community to work together to ensure the success of the new academic offerings.
Also speaking, the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Cecelia Oluwamodupe, described the approval as a landmark achievement that would further enhance OAUSTECH’s visibility and relevance.
She commended the university’s leadership, particularly Prof. Ologunorisa and the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Akimbo Adesomoju, for steering the institution toward greater academic growth.
“The new programmes, especially Marine Science, will have immense benefits for our coastal communities by opening up new and rewarding career paths,” she said.
