The Students Da’wah Committee (ASDAC) of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has organised an orientation programme for newly admitted students, aimed at easing their transition into academic, personal and spiritual life within the institution.
The two-day programme, themed “Climbing the Steps”, was held on Friday and Saturday, January 9 and 10, 2026, and was designed to formally welcome freshers while providing guidance on university life.
Activities commenced on Friday with the Prof. Lateef Oladimeji Inter-Faculty Qur’an Competition, which featured students from various faculties demonstrating excellence in Qur’anic recitation and memorisation. Participants were presented with certificates, while outstanding performances were recognised with awards during the grand finale of the orientation.
The programme continued on Saturday with the grand finale held at the Main Campus Auditorium, where fresh students were formally received and engaged in a series of educational and motivational sessions.
At the opening ceremony, the University Bursar, Mr Hafis Omoniyi, FCA, welcomed the freshers and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline and strong moral values.
One of the highlights of the event was a lecture titled “Balancing Academics and Personal Growth”, delivered by Dr Ismail Abdulraheem, a lecturer at Muhammad Kamaludeen University, Ilorin. The lecture focused on practical strategies for maintaining academic performance while developing personal values and essential life skills.
The orientation programme provided an interactive platform for new students to familiarise themselves with university life and the values upheld by Al-Hikmah University.
