The Tutor General and Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mr Olufemi Bamidele Paseda, has paid an official visit to Ajigbeda Girls Senior High School in Surulere, Lagos, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen standards across public schools in the district.
The visit aligns with the education objectives of the Lagos State Government under the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, particularly the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus development agenda, which prioritises education and technology as key drivers of sustainable growth.
Education District IV, often described within official circles as the Blooming District, has continued to record improvements in infrastructure, discipline, and academic performance under its current leadership.
During the visit, Mr Paseda was received by the school principal, management team, teachers, and student representatives. He undertook an inspection of classrooms, science laboratories, the library, staff quarters, and sanitation facilities to assess the learning environment and ongoing maintenance efforts.
Addressing the school community, the Permanent Secretary stressed the importance of maintaining clean, safe, and functional facilities, noting that a conducive environment plays a vital role in improving learning outcomes.
He urged students to remain focused on their studies, cultivate disciplined reading habits, and strive for excellence in all subjects. He also reminded teachers of their responsibility not only as instructors but as mentors guiding young girls toward academic and personal success.
In a separate interaction with members of staff, Mr Paseda commended their dedication and reaffirmed government’s commitment to teacher welfare and professional development. He encouraged them to uphold punctuality, integrity, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The visit concluded with a call for sustained discipline and adherence to school rules, with zero tolerance for examination malpractice and other misconduct. The engagement underscored the state government’s continued resolve to strengthen public education and prepare students for future opportunities.
