The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed claims circulating in online videos that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano is not in use, stating that the facility is fully operational.
In a statement issued on April 1, the ministry said the centre is currently running under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programme, also known as TVET II – IDEAS, where Nigerian youths are receiving vocational training.
According to the ministry, about 300 trainees have been undergoing training at the centre since November 2025 in areas such as leather works, solar photovoltaic installation and hospitality.
It added that the facility has received the required funding support for programme implementation, while the trainees are also being paid monthly stipends during the training period.
The ministry further disclosed that a delegation mandated by the 8th National Council on Skills visited the centre on March 30, 2026, and confirmed that the trainees were actively engaged in their programmes and that training was ongoing as scheduled.
The statement also noted that businessman Aliko Dangote has pledged to manage the facility for 20 years and expand its capacity.
The ministry urged members of the public to disregard misleading information about the centre and rely on official sources for accurate updates, while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening skills development across the country.
