The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced the release of 279 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results that were previously withheld for investigation over suspected examination malpractice.
The development was disclosed in an official statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.
According to the statement, the newly released results are in addition to those earlier made available by the examination body following the conclusion of preliminary investigations into several reported malpractice cases during the 2026 UTME exercise.
JAMB explained that while some results were released after investigations found no evidence directly implicating the affected candidates, other results had already been cancelled where clear cases of examination malpractice were established.
“The release follows ongoing investigations into cases of suspected examination malpractice,” the statement noted.
“While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the Board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates.”
The Board further explained that investigations are still ongoing in some examination centres where suspicious activities were reportedly detected by JAMB’s live monitoring teams or where adverse reports had been received from officials and stakeholders.
According to JAMB, results linked to such centres will remain withheld pending the completion of investigations and verification processes.
“Results from centres where the Board’s live monitoring team observed suspicious activities, or where adverse reports were received, remain withheld pending further investigation,” the statement added.
The Board warned that any candidate found culpable after the completion of investigations would have their result cancelled in line with examination regulations and anti-malpractice policies.
“Where sufficient evidence of culpability is established, such results will be cancelled,” JAMB stated.
The examination body also advised candidates whose results are still pending to verify their status through its official result-checking channels.
According to the Board, affected candidates can check whether their results have been released by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during UTME registration.
The latest announcement comes amid growing national conversations around examination integrity, digital monitoring systems, and efforts by examination bodies to curb malpractice and protect the credibility of Nigeria’s admission process.
